A life story of my "Mom." She was pregnant 4,500 + day. I still can't believe she had sixteen children in the span of twenty years, and I arrived as child number thirteen--I must be blessed right? 16 x MOM is more than a treasured keepsake of vignettes and timeless photographs. Over a hundred years of California history is documented and interspersed throughout. Mom's philosophies and love for her children keep you turning the pages with preservation and admiration while you laugh, cry, and reminisce. Her biography is a 7" x 10" laminated hard cover and has 360 pages. You just may want to treat yourself or your mom for Mother's Day and have a good read. 16 x MOM can also be used as a guide to writing your own family history and genealogy.

I will be visiting Mom next week for several days and for her 91st birthday. Most of my brothers and sisters will be there, too. I will post again when I return to tell you about all the fun.

March 10, 2009 I'm back!

Mom's birthday with the brothers and sisters was an amazing visit--so many beautiful memories to keep and sibling bondings. We played games all day that kept us in laughter and revved up our competitive drive to win. Then we spent a few hours writing in our autograph books I made.

Some of the sisters and brothers bought Mom a new 2009 Buick Lucerne, hot crystal red! Mom's excitement generated throughout the parking lot with standby's wishing they were a part of our family. Her hands shook as she was given the keys.

Nello, the oldest son, took Mom for her first spin to O'Connor Hospital to visit her only sister, Marie. Marie has been finally freed of MRSA, a staff infection which has kept her hospitalized for nearly a year in a sterile environment with no hugs and kisses. She now is trying to regain her strength to return home. The excitement continued when she saw Mom and the two talked. It sounded like a big convention with the siblings standing outside the door, each waiting to have their visit with Auntie Marie.

The Mountain Democrat in Placer County, California where my brother Nello lives, published a review of my book in honor of Mom. It was a wonderful surprise.

Wow! Your mom looks great. She sure doesn't look 91. And now she's going to a 91-year-old whizzing around in her little red car. God bless her! I hope she has lots of fun with it.
And, of course, I would love to win your book about her.

    Barbara,

That sounds like a wonderful book - I can't imagine being one of 16. I was one of 5 - and my mother was one of 11 I think.

It would be wonderful to win this great book!!!

    Take care

    Barbara,
I loved your book. Through it, I highly respect your mom for her dedication to her family and the love for all of her children. Having a family member myself that has mulitable children [12] I wish she would read your book. Your mom is proof that you can have many children and raise them yourself and not make the children raise each other, looseing their childhoods. Your mom is a true inspiration. I am so proud of you for the great job you did on this project. Wanting to publish my own works, I know how much work and research goes into this adventure. I am thankful for you being president of our club and being a dedicated leader. You did a great job and the club was better for it. I wish you all the best with this book. It has a great story to tell. Kudos to you!
    God Bless, Jackie

I just read your book that I checked out from the Loon Lake Library. Very well done and interesting. When I read your article in the newspaper about the book, I asked Christy at the library to get it for me. I am 70 yr old; 20 yr younger than your mom. I gave birth to 15 children in 20yr and your mom gave birth to 16 in 20 yr. Our last child was born 1981. We live in Loon Lake Acres, but started out our married life in Detroit, Mich. We have moved around a lot; Boulder, Colo and Seattle. Been in Loon Lake for 5 yr. Good luck to you on your book sales. Sure is nice you did that for the families. Helen
